She said "Yes"

There is a point in your life as a man when you know that its the time for you to get married or like they say "tie the knot." For those of us from Africa, we start getting pressured by parents and friends the moment you "become of age" it becomes really awkward when your dad get in on the game and starts to request for a grandchild from you. Well, all of this things doesn't really matter when choosing a mate, what is of utmost importance is finding that one person that would be not just your friend but also your help mate.
I popped the question to my sweetheart, Nkechi on the 26th of December 2012 after having known each other for four years plus and guess what the answer was, yeah you guessed right. She said "Yes" It took quite a lot of nerves to pull that off but I did it anyways.
"I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me" ~~ Phillipians 4:13
We do have an interesting story. We met precisely in 2009 and after a numbers of phone calls we became friends. The initial plan was to hook her up with a friend of mine I thought has come of age, don't mind me I also get involved in pressurizing too. For some reason, the hooking up didn't go as planned and so the your mate right here decided to stepped into the shoes of the friend and the rest they say is history.

The Power of Perception

My friend and mentor once told me that the difference between a leader and his follower is perception, and life has taught me the same is the difference between the rich and the poor. Pastor Poju Oyemade of Covenant Christian Center once said that, "We do not see with our eyes but through our eyes.", I can't agree any less. The concept of perception cannot be over flogged as it is required in most areas of our daily lives. People who are moving ahead are people who understands the dynamics of perception, understanding the one thing that makes the big picture unique and zeroing in on that.

Your achievement is largely dependent on what you have the capability to see. Seeing is not as a direct function of the physical eyes but a functioning mind if you doubt me, ask Cobhams Asuquo. Perception isn't something we earn but rather learn, giving yourself all out for it. Information is a great asset. Understanding you can either see at a depth or you can't see at all.

Mistakes Aren't Bad

Few things change us more than mistakes. Sadly, mistakes make people feel dumb, even though they are the path to wisdom. Not making mistakes is worse than making them.

Sometimes the best way to move forward is looking back. Rather than ignoring mistakes, relive them.

Irv Rothman, CEO of Hewlett-Packard Financial Services, talking about making mistakes. He said, “We lost a big account last year.” Irv explained how he sat down with the team who lost the account and went back through the decision-making process looking for things they could have done differently.

Learning from mistakes means:
  1. Reliving them.
  2. Uncovering shortfalls.
  3. Determining alternatives.
  4. Moving forward.
10 Reasons mistakes happen:
  1. Please others while ignoring your gut.
  2. Confusing instructions.
  3. Listening to the wrong people. Listen to those with experience. Additionally: Listen to those who have power to reward, punish, and make decisions.
  4. The “wrong” people are assigned to teams and tasks.
  5. Quick reactions.
  6. People are tired, overworked, or over-stressed.
  7. Acting on your own without seek advice.
  8. Confidence surpasses competence – arrogance.
  9. Rushing.
  10. Lack of training.
It’s one thing to accept that mistakes happen. It’s another to suggest they don’t matter. Repeating the same mistake over and over is a huge mistake.

7 more ways to learn from mistakes:
  1. Own them. “I screwed up,” takes you further than, “It’s your fault.”
  2. Publicly declare them. Hiding mistakes inspires self-protective cultures. Declaring, even celebrating mistakes, instills confidence. Top leadership must lead the way when it comes to publicly declaring mistakes.
  3. Determine causes.
  4. Reject defensiveness. Amy Jones
  5. Create alternatives.
  6. Teach others what you wish you would have done. Marlene Chism
  7. Learn from the mistakes of others. David Frick

Law of Process II

God understands the law of process, the reason He would not give you what you're not capable of handling. As the Bible says, "but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;" (I Corinthians 10:13).

There's nothing you look to achieve in life that does not require a process and no one became successful overnight. The one's that did were possibly involved in robbery overnight and that my friend, does not last as it comes and goes as it came. The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.

Becoming a lasting successful person in life requires that you understand the path required in getting there and working very hard in achieving it. Learning and unlearning as it requires. Adding and subtracting as necessary. Taking a step at a time. Understanding that you can't last by learning the shortcut but the real value. Been patient and knowing that time does not change anything but your input, praying like you never worked and working like you never prayed. Letting your word be your law (integrity). Seeing that you need people and making them part of your core values. Following through with what you started.

Your Thought Your Life I

Life is believed to be beyond what we see on the physical. In order words, what manifest in the physical has a lot in connection to what has happened in the spiritual. It's beyond the imagination of some that it does happen this way but then, have you ever thought about it. When you think about things, I mean things yet untouched, things you cannot hold and it comes to past exactly the way you thought about them, would you rather conclude that it happened because it was expected or just as it should. However it came, there are forces on the planet working in direct alignment with our thought.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1
Scientist believe that the human mind where our thought take place lies somewhere in the brain. It is also believed that thinking is the hardest work there is, the reason why many do not engage in it. These are facts and the truth is this, you can't live beyond your level of thought. The human mind is as a computer, you can only get out of it what you have put in, What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). Your thought is the sum total of what you see, read and hear. The things that you read, see and hear are enhancer or rather catalyst to your thought.
When the human mind is stretched beyond limit unlike an elastic rubber does not return to the status quo. The multiplier effect of such action is great and continuous. Never underestimate the power of thought. What made every great man today lies in his thought. Your thought either makes you better or miserable as your actions are a direct function of your thought. We are used to the status quo of thinking or usual way of doing things. That it's someone's idea to do it a particular way does not mean it has to continue that way. A CEO I read about said his organization made $50 billion the previous year from a single idea and said they have to make do with another idea if they ever intend to hit it that much again or more, the need to come up with an entirely different idea. Lesson learnt here is, things can get better.
